Sam Altman's Worldcoin Unveils Layer 2 Blockchain for Enhanced Efficiency and user onboarding

San Francisco, California - Sam Altman's Tools for Humanity, the driving force behind the groundbreaking Worldcoin project, has announced plans to launch its own Layer 2 blockchain, a significant step forward in the quest to onboard new users and revolutionize internet identity.

The World Chain, as the new Layer 2 is aptly named, will ride on the robust security of Ethereum, the second-largest blockchain. This strategic move will provide Worldcoin with a scalable and cost-effective platform to accommodate the influx of users while maintaining the highest levels of security.

"The introduction of World Chain is a pivotal moment for Worldcoin," said a spokesperson for Tools for Humanity. "This innovative Layer 2 solution will dramatically increase our capacity, enabling us to onboard new users at an unprecedented scale. Moreover, existing users can look forward to faster, cheaper, and more reliable transactions."

The Worldcoin project's unwavering mission is to establish a secure and inclusive digital identity system, assigning every human being a unique World ID. To achieve this ambitious goal, the project employs innovative iris scanning technology to verify human presence, eliminating the risk of bot manipulation and ensuring the integrity of the network.

As proof of their humanity, participants are rewarded with WLD tokens, the native cryptocurrency of the Worldcoin ecosystem. These tokens represent more than just monetary value; they symbolize the shared ownership and governance of the Worldcoin network.

"Our vision for Worldcoin is to create a future where the internet is governed by humans, not bots," said Sam Altman, co-founder of Tools for Humanity and CEO of OpenAI, the renowned artificial intelligence research company. "World Chain is a crucial step in realizing this vision by empowering people with a secure and decentralized digital identity."

Since its inception, Worldcoin has made remarkable progress, onboarding over 5 million users worldwide. The launch of World Chain is expected to accelerate this growth trajectory even further, paving the way for a truly inclusive internet where every human being has a voice and a stake in its future.

The World Chain Layer 2 is scheduled for release this summer, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of the Worldcoin project and its mission to establish a more equitable and human-centric internet.
