Cryptocurrency exchange WOO X, which also operates a decentralized exchange called WOOFi, is adding a new element to its platform: Boosters. These Boosters, which are acquired by performing certain actions on the platform, can then be used to enhance the yield generated by customers staking WOO tokens on WOOFi.

The Boosters are essentially NFTs that can be obtained by completing challenges like cross-chain swaps, depositing into earn vaults or trading on WOOFi Pro. Once acquired, these Boosters can be used to multiply the yield earned from staking WOO tokens on WOOFi.

According to a statement from WOO X, the Boosters are part of a broader effort to introduce novel concepts from the world of role-playing games into decentralized finance. The goal is to use NFTs to boost yields in a way that is both engaging and rewarding for customers.

“We're trying to introduce some new elements from the world of RPGs into DeFi, using NFTs to boost yields in a way that's both engaging and rewarding for our customers,” said Ben Yorke, VP of WOO Ecosystem, in the statement.

The Boosters will be applied to the yield generated by customers staking WOO tokens to earn a share of the DEX’s fees. WOOFi, which went live in December 2023, offers cross-chain swaps and earn vaults, among other features.

“The world of DeFi, a hotbed of innovation several years ago, could probably use some fresh ideas,” the statement adds. “The WOO ecosystem, which is also known for pushing things like index-linked meme coin perps on the centralized WOOX platform, is appealing to an audience that spans gaming and the concept of utility NFTs.”
