Cryptocurrency token WOO has adopted LayerZero’s Omnichain Fungible Token (OFT) standard on Merlin Chain in a move to enhance the utility of the token for holders.

The integration will enable token holders to seamlessly access OFT via WOOFi Swap and effortlessly transfer WOO tokens from Ethereum to Merlin without incurring any slippage or transaction fees.

Developed by LayerZero, the OFT standard facilitates the transfer of fungible tokens across multiple blockchains without the need for asset wrapping, middlechains, or liquidity pools.

The standard operates by burning tokens on the source chain upon initiating an omnichain transfer, transmitting a message via Layer Zero, and invoking a function call on the destination contract to mint an equivalent number of tokens that were burned, thus maintaining a uniform supply across both networks.
