A new meme coin, named tem walz (WALZ), has emerged on the Solana blockchain following Kamala Harris’s decision to select Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate. The token experienced a spike on Tuesday, coinciding with Harris's announcement, with its market cap nearly touching $1 million. However, today, the market valuation of WALZ has decreased to $136,000.

“Tem Walz”

As political and election-related meme coins have gained significant attention in 2024, another contender, tem walz (WALZ), has been introduced. The name intentionally plays on Minnesota Governor Tim Walz's surname.

Despite the attention, it hasn’t performed as strongly as other meme coins like TRUMP and BODEN. On Tuesday, WALZ reached a peak price of $0.001029 per coin, but today, it has dropped by 87.83% from that all-time high.

Walz, although not widely recognized, holds a modest 52% approval rating in Minnesota. The governor has faced criticism for his handling of the 2020 riots in Minneapolis and other areas of his state, as well as for his lockdown measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Walz also once remarked, “One person’s socialism is another person’s neighborliness.” The news about WALZ coin comes on the heels of the Kamala Harris-themed meme coin, which launched in late July and experienced a similar rise and fall in value.
