A DeFi protocol built on Pendle suffered an exploit on Sept. 3, 2024, leading to the loss of $27 million in client funds.

Onchain sleuths have traced the offending transaction to an address ending in “bb7,” which was among several addresses used by the hacker in the exploit. As a precaution, Penpie has suspended all deposits and withdrawals.

Another report from Scam Sniffer showed that monetary losses from phishing attacks — a type of malicious exploit in which a hacker uses deceiving links to extract sensitive information from victims — surged by 215%.
