A 50p piece minted in 2023 quickly became the item to watch on eBay after it sparked a bidding frenzy. The coin is not only one of the first to feature King Charles III, but it also boasts a striking Atlantic salmon design on the reverse.

It is currently the rarest 50p in circulation, with only 200,000 pieces minted - even rarer than the famous 2009 Kew Gardens 50p. And one seller hit the jackpot recently when they decided to flog their coin online, starting at just 99p.
