Chain analytics firm Santiment highlighted this trend in a new post on X, where they examined the "Network Growth" metric for Ethereum. This metric tracks the total number of addresses coming online on the ETH blockchain for the first time.

An address is considered 'online' or active when it participates in any type of transaction activity on the network, either as a sender or receiver. So, the Network Growth specifically measures the number of addresses making their very first transfer.

Naturally, a spike in the Network Growth can also occur when existing users create multiple wallets for a purpose like privacy. As visible in the above graph, the Ethereum Network Growth saw a huge spike during the weekend, implying a large number of new addresses were generated on the ETH blockchain.
