Core Foundation, the scaling solution for Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), has announced the introduction of a Dual Staking model aimed at amplifying Bitcoin yields and establishing a new market standard.

What Happened: Core Foundation revealed its Dual Staking model in an exclusive press release shared with Benzinga. The model is designed to reward Bitcoin stakers who have made long-term investments in Core. These investors will have their rewards further amplified by investing these earnings back into staking CORE.

The Bitcoin-powered blockchain is preparing to adopt this new model, building on its pioneering Non-Custodial Bitcoin Staking feature, which essentially functions as a Bitcoin bond layer. This feature aligns the Bitcoin and Core blockchains and establishes the Bitcoin Risk-Free Rate.

It is important to note that Core currently boasts approximately 55% of Bitcoin mining hash power actively delegated to it, helping to secure its over 100 dapps with $135 million in TVL and over 50,000 DAU.

With the full implementation of Bitcoin x CORE Dual Staking, Bitcoin stakers will be able to stake both Bitcoin and their CORE rewards to earn these amplified rates.

“Dual Staking introduces an additional incentive to security that’s provided simultaneously to Core and Bitcoin,” said Rich Rines, a contributor to Core DAO.

Core launched its Non-Custodial Bitcoin Staking in April 2024, enabling Bitcoin holders to earn yield on their Bitcoin without giving up custody. Within the first months, approximately 5,000 BTC — valued at $309 million — was staked with Core. These stakers earned the Risk-Free Rate, which was paid out in CORE tokens.
