Binance has announced a token distribution program for ZKSync (ZK) tokens in response to community concerns. Commencing on June 17, 2024, at 02:00 UTC and concluding on July 16, 2024, at 23:59 UTC, this initiative aims to address tensions arising from the prior distribution.

Binance will distribute 10,500,000 ZK tokens to eligible participants, potentially benefiting up to 52,500 users.

Eligibility criteria include having conducted at least 50 transactions on the ZKSync Era network originating from their address between February 2023 and March 2024. These transactions should have been spread over seven distinct months within this period, excluding self-transfers. Eligible addresses must not have received tokens from the official ZK Nation airdrop and must not be contract, CEX, or bridge addresses.

To claim the tokens, users must deposit a minimum of 0.02 Ethereum (ETH) from an approved ZKSync Era address to Binance. The size of the deposit does not affect the quantity of ZK tokens awarded. Distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis, with each successful Binance User ID (UID) claim receiving 200 ZK tokens.

Discontent among the community was evident in the use of the hashtag #ZKsyncScam on social media last week. This collective dissatisfaction arose from insufficient safeguards against Sybil attacks and perceived unfairness in the token distribution, which sparked a conversation on Reddit and Twitter.

Several major platforms on the ZKsync Era, including the largest non-fungible token (NFT) marketplace, Element, were notably excluded from the airdrop benefits. Despite driving nearly 70% of the platform’s total trading volume as of June 12, Element voiced its frustration on social media.
