Web3 infrastructure and digital credential network Galxe (GAL) is building its own layer-1 smart contract platform, dubbed Gravity, and will migrate all its products to the new blockchain.

The first version of Gravity, built on the Arbitrum Nitro tech stack, will go live this June to test cross-chain settlements in a publicly transparent manner. Meanwhile, the full-fledged Gravity Mainnet with native staking and restaking is set to launch in the second quarter of 2025.

According to the Galaxe team, the platform’s user base has grown significantly over the past three years, now boasting 20 million users and 100 million monthly transactions. This, in turn, necessitated a more efficient and scalable solution to handle cross-chain interactions between the 34 blockchains that Galxe supports.

"Existing solutions fell short in supporting the required complexity and scale, prompting Galxe to develop Gravity," the team said in a statement.

Gravity will be a proof-of-stake blockchain, simultaneously supporting restaking via EigenLayer and Babylon to leverage the Ethereum network's security. The chain will also get a new native token G, with the existing token GAL's contract migration already approved by the platform's decentralized autonomous organization.

Gravity는 EigenLayer와 Babylon을 통한 재스테이킹을 동시에 지원하여 Ethereum 네트워크의 보안을 활용하는 지분 증명 블록체인이 될 것입니다. 체인은 또한 플랫폼의 분산형 자율 조직에서 이미 승인한 기존 토큰 GAL의 계약 마이그레이션과 함께 새로운 기본 토큰 G를 얻습니다.

The network will use Reth as execution layer and consensus algorithm Jolteon (AptosBFT) for near-instant transaction finality and high throughput, the team said. It will also be compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

Galxe Passport, which has nearly 1 million users, will be moved from BNB Chain (BNB) to Gravity, while the Galxe Score contract will migrate from Polygon (MATIC) to the new chain.
