Solana Mobile has announced its latest smartphone, the Solana Seeker, which is faster and more powerful than its predecessor and will be available for nearly half the price.

The Solana Seeker has been in development for months, according to the company, which describes it as “the definitive web3 mobile device, designed to harmonize hardware & software.”

The Solana Seeker is the successor to the Solana Saga, a smartphone that began as a complete failure before its fortunes turned around.

The Saga failed to impress technophiles because it couldn’t compete with other premium devices in its price range, such as those from Samsung and Apple. It also failed to appeal to the crypto crowd because its crypto features were easily accessible on other non-crypto-native devices. Furthermore, it was priced significantly higher than the majority of its competitors.

However, everything changed when Bonk, a meme coin built on the Solana network, began to soar. Saga phones included complimentary airdropped Bonk tokens. As a result, the tokens held within the phones became more valuable than the phones themselves, sparking a mad scramble. At one point, the Saga cost five times more than the most premium iPhone, yet interested users were still unable to obtain the device.

According to Solana Mobile, it has learned from its past errors. For starters, the new smartphone is no longer priced in the premium range. At least until the Breakpoint event in Singapore, users can pre-order the new phone for $45o, which is less than half the price of the Saga.

Furthermore, it includes a variety of new features, such as the Seed Vault Wallet, which was developed in collaboration with Solflare, a leading ecosystem wallet provider.

“This mobile-first wallet integrates with Seed Vault for seamless self-custody,” the company adds. "Send transactions with a double tap for a smoother, more advanced UX.”
