An expert has revealed the 'super rare' 50p coin that could be worth a staggering £2,000 - and it’s all down to ‘one tiny detail’.

The coin in question is the 2011 Olympic aquatics 50p, which was produced by the Royal Mint to commemorate the 2012 London Olympics.

In a video uploaded to social media platform TikTok, a content creator known as the Coin Collecting Wizard explained how to spot the mistake.

According to the expert, the important detail can be found over the swimmer’s face.

It is thought only around 600 of the “lines over face” coins were made before the design was changed. However, RWB Auctions says that it’s more accurate to say that the design of the coin was “tweaked” rather than there being an error.
