Solana was founded in 2017 by Anatoly Yakovenko with the aim of creating a decentralized alternative to stock exchanges like NASDAQ. The platform is developed by Solana Labs, an American software company, and is governed by the Solana Foundation, a Swiss nonprofit organization.
