As the population of these high-grade coins expanded, the prices began to steadily decline. Guth explains, “If one looks at the auction price records for this date, every new sale sold for less than the previous one—without exception.” By 2017, the price finally stabilized in the U$15,000 to $16,000 range, which, while lower than its peak, still remains an impressive valuation for a Silver Eagle.
