Recently Rabid Rodent shared some interesting and rare footage of the Virtual Boy Tech Demo, Mario Adventure (which is commonly known as VB Mario Land). The game was planned to release for Nintendo’s Virtual Boy in 1995.

The Virtual Boy was a console that aimed to deliver stereoscopic 3D gaming with its signature red-and-black visuals. It was also a console that had a short lifespan and a limited game library.

One of the games that was planned but never released for the Virtual Boy was Mario Adventure, a platformer that was intended to be a flagship title featuring Mario, building on the Super Mario Land series from the Game Boy.

However, unlike the eventual Virtual Boy Wario Land, which did release, VB Mario Land never progressed beyond a tech demo and was scrapped, likely due to the Virtual Boy’s commercial flop.
