Gaming platform Pixelverse has launched the closed beta of its highly anticipated MMORPG (massively multiplayer online role-playing game) web browser game, marking a major milestone for the cyberpunk-themed ecosystem.
With this launch, Pixelverse also becomes the first platform to launch TON (The Open Network) microtransactions outside of Telegram.
Founded in 2021, Pixelverse is best known for its innovative integration of blockchain technology into its games. Initially launching on Telegram with its mini-game PixelTap, Pixelverse quickly gained traction thanks to its seamless integration with the TON blockchain.
PixelTap attracted a large following, becoming one of the most popular mini-games on Telegram with over 10 million monthly active users. In August 2024, Pixelverse launched its largest profile picture (PFP) NFT collection on TON, which attracted 234,000 investors. This was followed by the successful launch of its Bots NFT collection, which saw over 40,000 investors participate.
Throughout 2024, Pixelverse continued to expand its ecosystem, hosting large-scale events and announcing partnerships with major organizations. The platform also launched its native token, PIXEL, which is used for governance, NFT minting, and other functions within the Pixelverse ecosystem.
Now, with the closed beta launch of its MMORPG web browser game, Pixelverse is taking another major step forward. Set 800 years in the future, the game sees players awakening in a dystopian city called Neopolis. From there, they can embark on quests, collect rare items, and gain influence in the city’s dynamic economy.
The game’s open-world format will allow players to shape the environment and economy, embodying the true spirit of web3.
According to Pixelverse CEO Kirill, the company’s goal is to move beyond mobile ecosystems and deliver a richer, more immersive web3 gaming experience. By leveraging its massive Telegram user base and the growing Telegram gaming landscape, Pixelverse is aiming to organically grow its presence in the broader web3 space.
The platform’s public release is scheduled for Q4 2024, and Pixelverse is expected to continue pushing the boundaries of web3 gaming, setting a new standard for blockchain integration and player engagement.
