Binance, the leading global crypto exchange by trading volume, is extending support for the new native token of a “decentralized science” project.

Binance Launchpool, which enables users to stake coins to farm new assets, is announcing that its 63rd project will be the decentralized platform BIO Protocol (BIO), which aims to advance biotechnology through collective funding and the tokenization of biotech projects.

“BIO is a curation and liquidity protocol for decentralized science (DeSci). Our mission is to accelerate biotechnology by giving global communities of patients, scientists and biotech professionals the ability to collectively fund, build and own tokenized biotech projects and intellectual property (IP),” the project states.

The team behind BIO also helped create Molecule, a tokenization platform for early-stage biomedicine, and VitaDAO, the largest decentralized community for longevity science.

Binance Launchpool is planning to roll out support for BIO on Tuesday. Binance will also be enabling BIO for spot trading, starting on January 3rd, 2025.

Binance will be attaching a seed tag to BIO, which the exchange applies to lower-liquidity projects that may exhibit higher volatility compared to other listed tokens.

Binance requires users who own assets with seed tags to pass quizzes every 90 days to ensure they’re fully aware of the risks before trading the tokens.
