A Successful $100K Break Could Open Path To Price Discovery: Glassnode

In a recent post on X, blockchain analytics firm Glassnode shed light on the behavior of Bitcoin (BTC) long-term holders (LTH) and how it could impact the flagship cryptocurrency’s price trajectory in the coming days.

Long-term holders are defined as investors who have not moved their coins for more than 155 days. According to the latest on-chain data, LTHs have been in an accumulation phase, with over 254,000 BTC aging beyond 155 days since the recent price low.

Most of these investors purchased their coins above the $95,000 price level, Glassnode added.

As the total supply held by LTHs increases, it indicates that their spending has remained minimal and light, even amid bearish pressure and uncertain market conditions over the past month. This positive trend signals renewed confidence and the LTHs’ lack of interest in reducing their exposure in the market.

However, LTHs typically begin distributing their coins around 350% unrealized profit margins, which corresponds with a Bitcoin price of roughly $99,900. As the BTC price edges closer to this level, we might see heightened sell-side pressure.

Moreover, a large portion of coins was purchased within the $95,000 – $98,000 zone, forming a supply barrier. The Bitcoin price could experience significant downward pressure if investors with cost bases within this range decide to exit at breakeven or after realizing minimal profit.

This potential sell-side pressure from the large BTC supply in the $95,000 – $98,000 region, as well as from LTHs distributing their coins around the $99,900 level, creates a major resistance barrier.

Nevertheless, a successful breach of the $100,000 mark could open the path for price discovery, considering the minimal coin supply above this price point.
