The Press Information Bureau’s fact check revealed that this viral claim is false. The government has not made such an announcement. The photo was circulated on social media and posted on the official handle: ‘In the photo circulating on social media, it is claimed that a new coin of Rs 7 will be issued in honour of Mahendra Singh Dhoni for his contribution to Indian cricket. The claim made in the picture is entirely wrong—it’s #fake. The Department of Economic Affairs has made an announcement.
