Brazil's main bourse, B3, is set to introduce futures contracts on Ethereum (ETH) and Solana (SOL) on June 16, expanding its cryptocurrency-based financial instruments portfolio.
The apex court, the Brazilian Securities and Exchange Commission (CVM), has granted approval for the new contracts, which will be priced in U.S. dollars and sized at 0.25 ETH and 5 SOL.
Further boosting liquidity and market participation, B3 is also reducing the contract size of its Bitcoin (BTC) futures from 0.1 BTC to 0.01 BTC.
“B3 is making new cryptocurrency derivatives instruments available to meet the growing demand for products linked to crypto assets,” said Marcos Skistymas, product director at B3.
He highlighted that the exchange is constantly striving to provide "regulated and secure" crypto instruments in response to the surging interest among investors in assets tied to blockchain technology.
“This brings more innovation and sophistication to our products, in addition to offering more alternatives to investors familiar with blockchain technology,” Skistymas concluded.
The launch of ETH and SOL futures follows months of development, with B3 reporting in February that it was working on the contracts and aiming for a year-end launch.
The accelerated rollout signifies both the exchange's dedication to innovation and the increasing demand for diversified crypto investment vehicles within the Brazilian market.
This move builds on B3's earlier initiative to integrate digital assets into its product portfolio. In April, the bourse unveiled the country's inaugural exchange-traded fund (ETF) based on XRP, marking another milestone in Brazil's evolving financial landscape.
With the addition of Ethereum and Solana futures, B3 continues to solidify its position at the forefront of Latin America's crypto-financial sector, providing regulated access to advanced blockchain investment opportunities.
