Some Senate Republicans are uneasy as President Donald Trump plans an exclusive dinner and White House tour for top investors in his $TRUMP meme token

President Donald Trump is planning an exclusive dinner and White House tour for top investors in his $TRUMP meme token, according to a report by NBC.

A meme coin, or meme token, is a cryptocurrency.

Trump announced on Wednesday that the top 220 holders of the meme coin will be invited to a dinner at his members-only club, Trump National Golf Club, outside Washington.

The top 25 investors will get an “exclusive reception” with Trump before the dinner — and a “Special VIP Tour of The White House” the next day.

That prompted some Republicans to speak out.

Senator Cynthia Lummis (R-WY), usually a staunch supporter of Trump, was not thrilled with the idea when NBC asked her about it.

“This is my president that we’re talking about,” Lummis said. “But I am willing to say that this gives me pause.”

On Wednesday, Lummis called for Congress to regulate digital assets, like meme coins.

“This is the Wild West, and so when I hear things like this, my reaction is, we need to legislate so there are rules,” she said.

She’s not the only Republican on Capitol Hill raising questions.

“I don’t think it would be appropriate for me to charge people to come into the Capitol and take a tour,” Senator Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) told NBC News about the White House tour.

“He’s got to remember that he’s living there, but it’s the people’s house, right?”

According to NBC, “While using untraceable cryptocurrency to pay for access to the president raised questions for some senators, there are no laws barring Trump and the organization from proceeding as planned.”

The White House did not respond to NBC News’ request for comment.
