Plan B Passport merges with CitizenX, unlocking new passport diversification options for Bitcoiners

Apr 22, 2025 at 11:27 pm

Digital-first and 'crypto'—as in cryptography—native, the merger combines Plan B Passport's deep connections in the Bitcoin industry with the Swiss

Katie "The Russian" Ananina's Citizenship by Investment company, Plan B Passport, has announced a merger with CitizenX.

The move will unlock a new suite of passport diversification options for Bitcoiners, as the digital-first and "crypto"—as in cryptography—native Plan B Passport joins forces with the Swiss CitizenX platform's privacy technology and expertise.

The whole Plan B Passport team is joining CitizenX to work together now, and Katie is joining the company as Chief Marketing Officer.

CitizenX, the Swiss Citizenship by Investment company and high-tech platform, provides a fully integrated service with complete privacy and security.

The company's platform handles the highly sensitive information of its users with cutting-edge technology and deep expertise in a neutral and low-tax environment—the Swiss mentality. All data is encrypted end-to-end and stored on Swiss servers.

"They're insanely into privacy and security," Katie said about CitizenX.

Alex Recouso, CEO of CitizenX, said: "Katie and Plan B bring a fearless energy we admire. Their dominance in the Bitcoin space and industry expertise supercharge our vision. Together, we're creating new ways for countries to fundraise directly from citizens and, more importantly, helping more people secure their freedom."

Earlier this year, Katie wrote an article for Bitcoin Magazine on why Bitcoiners would prefer El Salvador to grant "donors" immediate citizenship with no residency requirements in exchange for $1 million or equivalent in bitcoin, rather than the five-year relocation residency programs with a path to citizenship originally proposed by the president of El Salvador.

The article was later retweeted by President Bukele himself, who went on to announce the donor program with an option for bitcoin payment.

This aligns perfectly with CitizenX's vision to provide a high-tech, efficient and private service to those seeking a second passport or citizenship.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting merger.
