Lace Wallet to Add XRP Support, Expanding Its Multichain Capabilities

Apr 27, 2025 at 03:47 pm

In a thrilling news for crypto fans, Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has announced that Lace Wallet will shortly be adding XRP to its list of supported assets. This was announced during a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session where Hoskinson announced that the Cardano ecosystem's leading wallet, created by Input Output Global (IOG), is going to broaden its functionality.

Lace Wallet to Add XRP Support, Expanding Its Multichain Capabilities

Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has revealed that Lace Wallet will soon be adding support for XRP.

The revelation was made during a recent Ask Me Anything (AMA) session, where Hoskinson announced that the Cardano ecosystem's leading wallet, created by Input Output Global (IOG), is expanding its functionality.

Originally designed to host only Cardano-based assets, Lace has already integrated Bitcoin into its platform. With XRP integration next in line, it's quickly becoming a genuinely multi-chain wallet.

In the upcoming update, users will be able to seamlessly store, send, and receive XRP, ADA, and BTC all within one interface. While no specific launch date has been confirmed, the update highlights Cardano's commitment to greater blockchain interoperability.

This integration will have two main effects:

* Improved accessibility for XRP holders

* Enhanced Cardano multi-chain ecosystem

This news comes shortly after Cardano launched the Leios Upgrade to enhance blockchain scalability and efficiency.

In another major announcement, Hoskinson disclosed that XRP holders will be eligible for the upcoming Midnight blockchain airdrop. Midnight is Cardano's new privacy-focused network, featuring the NIGHT token for governance and the DUST token for private transactions. The NIGHT airdrop will reach 37 million users, including holders of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, Binance Smart Chain, Avalanche, and XRP Ledger assets.

This airdrop provides additional value for users of XRP who use the Lace Wallet, presenting a strong incentive for them to join the Cardano platform.

The inclusion of XRP in Lace is a significant step for Cardano as it expands its multi-chain capabilities. XRP holders will benefit from increased convenience and access to the upcoming Midnight airdrop. With smart updates like Leios and a focus on cross-chain compatibility, Cardano is positioning itself as one of the most advanced blockchain networks in 2025.
