Japan-based investment firm Metaplanet acquires an additional 330 BTC, bringing its total holdings to 4,855
Apr 21, 2025 at 05:33 pm
Metaplanet has strengthened its position in the digital asset space by acquiring an additional 330 BTC.
Japan-based investment firm Metaplanet has continued to bulk up its Bitcoin treasury, with the latest purchase adding 330 BTC to its holdings.
The company confirmed the acquisition on Monday, bringing the total BTC purchased so far in April to three. The latest transaction was executed at an average price of 12,181,570 yen (about $85,605) per BTC.
The investment firm’s total Bitcoin holdings have now reached 4,855 BTC, which is valued at approximately 62.165 billion yen (about $433 million). The average purchase price for its Bitcoin portfolio is 12,804,361 yen (around $88,000) per BTC.
Moreover, the company’s BTC Yield—a performance measure that assesses the efficiency of its Bitcoin acquisition strategy—is being reported with a lag. Between January and March 2025, Metaplanet’s BTC Yield was 95.6%. In the current quarter, covering April 1 to April 21, the firm achieved a BTC Yield of 12.1%.
These figures highlight Metaplanet’s ability to optimize purchase timing during periods of market volatility. The BTC Yield metric is a key component of Metaplanet’s broader financial strategy, which focuses on maximizing asset value over the long term.
“The company’s goal is to reach a 10,000 BTC target by year-end,” a portion of the statement read.
Earlier this year, Metaplanet disclosed that it had begun buying Bitcoin as part of a new treasury strategy. The firm plans to continue accumulating BTC in line with its long-term treasury objectives.
Despite ongoing global market fluctuations and policy shifts, such as the U.S. tariff measures, which could impact the markets, Metaplanet remains focused on its core goal of maximizing shareholder value through sustained exposure to digital assets.
The company is operating within Japan’s regulated crypto environment, which provides clarity and compliance for corporate cryptocurrency investments.
As Bitcoin’s market value continues to evolve, Metaplanet’s significant holdings are expected to play a central role in its long-term financial planning.
