The world's oldest university, Brown University, has disclosed a $4,915,050 holding of BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF (NYSE:IBIT) in the form 13F to the U.S. SEC.

The IBIT fund has grown significantly in the last year to currently hold about 607,685.5 Bitcoins, which is worth over $58 billion.

The university, which was founded in 1764, becomes the third U.S.-based university to publicly announce a Bitcoin holding.

Earlier this year, Emory and the University of Austin (UATX) announced a significant Bitcoin purchase.

Brown University has a rich balance sheet of more than $7 billion in endowments, which could be converted to Bitcoin in the near future.

Bitcoin has proved to be a reliable store of value and the United States is about to implement its Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.

The rising adoption of Bitcoin by institutional investors amid rising global liquidity has helped increase its bullish sentiment.

The flagship coin is about to record its fourth consecutive bullish weekly close, after a bearish first quarter fueled by trade war fears.
