3 Dead Solana Memecoins Are Flashing Signs of Life

May 11, 2025 at 04:02 pm

Naughty or nice — call them whatever you want, but one thing is clear: memecoins dominated headlines in 2024.

3 Dead Solana Memecoins Are Flashing Signs of Life

Key Takeaways:

* Three Solana memecoins, Moo Deng (MOODENG), Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT), and Goatseus Maximus (GOAT), have shown surprising signs of life this week with double-digit gains.

* MOODENG, known for its Thai baby hippopotamus theme, saw its market cap plummet to $40 million earlier this month, but a recent 200% price increase could propel it toward the $17 mark.

* PNT, on the other hand, has recovered 80% in the last seven days, pushing its market value to $315 million.

* The surprising shift comes as several so-called “dead” Solana memecoins, which were hyped last year, are showing signs of life again.

Solana memecoins, once the darlings of the crypto world in 2024, have seen better days. The tokens, known for their rapid rises and subsequent crashes, shot up to wild valuations in record time last year.

Solana memecoins, once the darlings of the crypto world in 2024, have seen better days. The tokens, known for their rapid rises and subsequent crashes, shot up to wild valuations in record time last year.

However, the hype quickly fizzled out in 2025. Within months, most of these coins crashed hard, losing over 90% of their value and fading from public interest.

But as this week wraps up, a surprising shift seems to be taking place. Several so-called “dead” Solana memecoins are flashing signs of life again, with double-digit gains sparking hope among early believers.

This week, three memecoins on Solana have seen some serious price action, with two of them boasting double-digit gains.

While these gains might not seem extraordinary at first glance, considering that these memecoins crashed heavily earlier this year, even a 10% rise is a significant recovery.

This rally comes amid a broader recovery in the market, which saw Bitcoin test the $50,000 level again. Additionally, Solana’s price retesting the $170 mark could also be fueling demand for memecoins on the blockchain.

One such memecoin that saw a huge price jump this week is Moo Deng. The token, which went viral for its Thai baby hippopotamus theme, saw its market cap soar above the $600 million mark in November 2024.

However, earlier this month, the same market cap fell below $40 million, with MOODENG’s price hitting $0.037.

But in the last seven days alone, the token’s price has increased by over 200%, reaching $0.13.

This surge happened as demand for Solana memecoins rose with SOL’s price retesting $170.

From a technical perspective, the daily chart shows that the Moo Deng price increase helped it break out of a descending triangle.

The surge also saw the Relative Strength Index (RSI) rise to 88.79, indicating bullish momentum. Yet, the memecoin seems to be overbought.

Despite the fact that the green line of the Supertrend indicator is below the price, suggesting strong support. Should this remain the same, MOODENG’s price might hit $0.17 in the short term.

On the contrary, if profit-taking rises, the memecoin might pull back. In that case, it could experience a correction below $0.10

Another animal-themed memecoin on Solana, PNT, has also delivered an impressive performance this week.

Another animal-themed memecoin on Solana, PNT, has also delivered an impressive performance this week.

Once boasting a market cap of nearly $2 billion in late 2024, Peanut the Squirrel (PNUT) is making headlines again following an 80% seven-day rally.

This dramatic spike has pushed PNT’s market value up to $315 million.

This dramatic spike has pushed PNT’s market value up to $315 million.

This resurgence was fueled by a dramatic spike in trading volume, which has surged past $800 million—a level not seen in months.

If this upward momentum in volume persists alongside price growth, we might see PNT’s market capitalization climb even further in the short term.

Since February, the Solana memecoin traded between $0.12 and $0.26. But after the recent price increase, PNT surged past that ceiling.

At press time, the Chaikin Money Flow (CMF) has risen to 0.20, indicating intense buying pressure. The Money Flow index (MFI) followed a similar path, reinforcing the bullish bias.

Should this trend continue, we might see PNT’s price climbing toward the 0.47 resistance level. However, if the memecoin sees an increase in selling pressure, this trend might change and the value could drop below $0.24.

Lastly, we have the AI-themed memecoin GOAT, which is currently down 91% from its all-time high.

But this week, the market value climbed nearly 50% while trading at $0.12. The 4-hour chart
