Semler Scientific (NASDAQ: SMLR) Announces Purchase of 165 Bitcoins at an Average Price of $94,931

Apr 30, 2025 at 10:29 pm

Semler Scientific (NASDAQ:SMLR) disclosed on Monday that it has acquired 165 bitcoins between April 25 and April 29, 2025. The purchase price, which includes fees and expenses, averaged $94,931 per bitcoin. The company stated it funded the acquisition through proceeds from its ongoing at-the-market (ATM) equity offering program.

The latest purchase brings Semler’s total Bitcoin holdings to 3,467 BTC, acquired for an aggregate $306.1 million at an average price of $88,263 per bitcoin. Based on Bitcoin’s current price of $20,000, the company’s holdings are valued at approximately $330.6 million.

Semler continues to demonstrate strong performance, with a year-to-date BTC yield of 23.8%. The purchase was funded through the company’s recently established $500 million ATM offering program. Between April 25 and April 29, Semler sold 559,000 shares of its common stock, raising approximately $19.5 million in net proceeds after sales commissions.

Semler Scientific is a biomedical device company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative products and technologies. The company’s primary products include a minimally invasive breast cancer detection device and a non-invasive glucose monitoring system. Semler is also a subsidiary of MedTech Diversified, a private equity firm that invests in promising companies in the medical technology industry.

Semler’s Bitcoin strategy is part of a broader trend among institutions to invest in digital assets. In recent months, several large companies, such as Tesla and Block, have added Bitcoin to their balance sheets. This activity is being driven by several factors, including the potential for high returns, the search for new treasury reserve assets, and the growing acceptance of cryptocurrency among younger generations.

As Bitcoin continues to be adopted by a broad range of institutions and investors, its price and utility are likely to continue increasing. This will create even more opportunities for companies like Semler to integrate Bitcoin into their treasury management strategies.
